  Teacher: Ms. McKamey
Grade 11, Period 2

Ms. McKamey is a teacher consultant with the Bay Area Writing Project.

Ms. McKamey's eleventh-grade American Literature students worked in pairs to develop short stories that incorporated narrative elements including plot, voice, character development, dialogue, inner voice, and theme. Then, each two-person team transformed their written story into an oral "digital" story (a short movie): First, they edited their work for dramatic effect. Next, they recorded their story as voiceover narration and added digitized images and music to emphasize and illustrate the plot and theme. Finally, they created titles, transitions, and other effects to complete the digital story.
