Teacher: Marti Warde
Grade 6

Sixth graders at Los Ranchos Elementary studied the theory of plate tectonics. Students learned about how this theory developed over time and about the scientists whose work established the foundation for it.

Working in small groups, students were tasked with developing digital stories to explain on aspect of the theory of plate tectonics. For example, students explored Alfred Wegener's ideas about continental drift, the evidence he used to support his theory, and how scientists connect convection currents in the mantle to plate movement.
