Ancient Egyptian culture remains a source of wonder in our modern world, and its pyramids, temples, and rituals inspire curiosity in students. As part of a unit on this fascinating civilization, sixth-graders at Los Ranchos Elementary School produced digital films.
Students collaborated in teams during all phases of production. Scriptwriting and voiceover narration, image selection, alignment of imagery to the narration, digital editing, titling, special effects, and music were key components that required critical thought and group agreement. As a result, the finished films represent not only understanding of the core social studies curriculum, but also the application of life skills such as cooperation, communication, creative thinking, collaboration, and self-confidence.
