| Fifth-grade students at Los Ranchos Elementary
participated in a Weather and Climate unit based on the California state
science standards. Project activities included a variety of reading and
writing assignments, as well as presentations. The students worked in
teams of three to conduct research from various sources; then, to culminate
the unit, they produced digital movies that included sound effects, music,
written narratives, still images, and video clips. While creating the
films, students used creativity and critical thinking skills, as well
as important life skills including cooperation, communication, decision-making,
and self-confidence.
