Teacher: Mrs. Brown
Grade 3

Third-grade students at Del Mar Elementary School studied animals. Using a variety of sources, they worked cooperatively in pairs to conduct research and prepare an essay about a chosen animal. This narrative writing was used as the basis for a digital film, which the student teams created as the culminating project for the unit. Students engaged in reading, writing, research, decision-making, cooperation, and critical thinking skills as they learned and created. Using technology to produce digital films about the animals brought technology into the classroom in a meaningful way, and the student films have been shared with a variety of audiences.
