Teacher: Ms. Dannenberg
Period 3, Sophomore English

Ms. Dannenberg is a teacher consultant with the Bay Area Writing Project.

Students in Ms. Dannenberg's English class worked on narrative writing about place, with an emphasis on using sensory language and images to convey key information. The assignment addressed the figurative meaning of place in addition to its literal meaning as a site or specific location. Students collaborated in groups to create a piece of writing up to 300 words long that presented a sense of place in a unified voice.

From this foundation, each team of students assembled an integrated script that served as the voiceover for a digital film. Then, they gathered and incorporated images representing their "place." Finally, they created titles, worked with transitions, and experimented with special effects to complete their project.
