San Jose Middle School 2005-2006 Projects
Over the course of twelve weeks, fifth-graders at San Jose Elementary School enjoyed the opportunity to study with an architect in residence. Once each week, professional architect Todd Smith visited the students’ classrooms to introduce them to the basics of architecture and help them create their own architectural models. He also took the fifth-graders on a field trip to the Walt Disney Concert Hall, designed by world-famous architect Frank Gehry. Working in small groups, the students collaborated to document their experience in digital stories that combine images, video clips, music, and recorded narration.
