Teacher: Ms. Rose
Grade 5

Fifth-graders at San Jose Elementary School made digital stories about their experiences studying with a professional architect, Mr. Smith. Every Wednesday for twelve weeks, Mr. Smith visited the students in Ms. Rose's class. First he introduced them to the basics of architecture. Next, he took them on a field trip to the Walt Disney Concert Hall, a remarkable building designed by world-famous architect Frank Gehry. Finally, he advised the students as they broke into small groups and created their own architectural models. At the end of the project, the models were included in a display for fourth-grade classes.

The students' digital stories capture the excitement of this unique opportunity with a combination of images, video clips, recorded narration, and music.
