Teacher: Ms. Stephens
Period 6

In Irving ISD, the humanities curriculum revolves around a different theme each semester. This semester’s theme is “Patterns." Students investigated patterns through time in both history and thought.

In looking at patterns in different places, we looked at different art movements - exploring the art in and of itself and as well as how the mainstream and establishment responded to it. My students looked at different movements that were not well received at the time of their inceptions to see the pattern of how the fringe becomes the norm.

The seventh and eighth graders of the sixth period addressed a wide range of art movements and styles, even tackling the difficult art of Minimalism.
