Bay-Waveland Middle School 2005-2006 Projects

In August 2005, Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, experienced Hurricane Katrina firsthand. Since then, students from the area have used Mobile Learning Institute sessions to share their stories about Katrina and other topics important to them. During the school year, eighth-grade students in Mrs. Pepperman's Computer Discovery class used the digital storytelling process to document some of their very personal experiences of the storm and its effect on their community. Later, participants in the 2006 Mobile Learning Institute Digital Arts Summer Camps also used the latest mobile phone and communications technologies to create digital stories. In the process, all of the students developed scripts, selected and created supporting imagery and illustrations, and then integrated these images together with supporting elements to create their finished films.
